Myron King

Chief Operating Officer & Director of Coaching

The CVYSA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of a new Chief Operating Officer/Director of Coaching, Myron King.  Myron will start his new role on January 2, 2023. He and his family are excited to move to the Hickory area!

Myron is originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland and has been living in the US since 2000. Myron has been involved in soccer (football) as a player, coach, administrator, director and parent for over 30 years. When not coaching soccer, Myron worked as a manager at a large supermarket chain and helped his mother run their advertising and marketing firm.

From an early age soccer was a part of Myron’s life. Northern Ireland has had some great soccer players, including George Best and Pat Jennings. These were the types of players that influenced him while growing up. Since moving into coaching, two coaches that inspired him at a young age were Bobby Robson (Ex England/Barcelona) and Alex Ferguson (Ex Scotland and Manchester Utd). Myron played mainly as a goalkeeper and started coaching at the age of 16 with a local club. For ten years Myron coached youth teams and adult teams back home before moving to the US to pursue coaching opportunities.

Myron came to the US in the summer of 2000 to work with Soccer Academy who are based in Northern Virginia. Soccer Academy was owned by John Ellis (Father of Jill Ellis, recent USWNT Head Coach). This was a great introduction to the US Soccer Market and he later moved from Soccer Academy to work in Youth Soccer Clubs. During his soccer coaching career, he has had the opportunity to work with all levels of male and female players. From beginners to those who have gone on to play professionally and internationally.

Myron is married to Kate, they have three children 10, 7 and 1. They are all very excited about getting back to the east coast as Kate is originally from Charlottesville, Va. Myron will commence work in Jan 2023. His family will join him later in the year from Illinois.
